Who is Camara?
Camara Blue is a proud Birmingham native, devoted husband, father of four, former firefighter,
entrepreneur, and community leader committed to service. Born and raised in Birmingham,
Alabama, Camara understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing families across
District 3. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Miles College and later
completed his Master of Divinity at the Morehouse School of Religion, equipping him with
strong leadership, ethical grounding, and a passion for people-centered service. He is married to
Dr. LaTandra Blue, and together they are raising four children: Dequawn, JaMarcus, Mckenna,
and Camara Jr.
Camara’s career journey reflects his lifelong commitment to protecting, serving, and
empowering others. As a former firefighter, he witnessed the critical importance of well-funded
emergency services and strong community infrastructure. As a business owner and entrepreneur,
he understands the value of economic opportunity, workforce development, and responsible
budgeting. These experiences have shaped his vision for leadership that is both practical and
people-focused.
Camara is running for the Jefferson County Commission to create visible, measurable change in
District 3. He believes the voices of District 3 residents have not always been heard clearly or
consistently. His goal is simple yet powerful: to serve every constituent with transparency,
accessibility, and accountability while advocating for the resources and attention District 3
deserves. Camara is committed to being a commissioner who listens first, leads with integrity,
and works tirelessly to strengthen the entire community.
